Suppose to drive both SGFemale and my son to mother-in-law's place but alas..the moment the car started moving, it became apparent to us that something is wrong with the tyre. Drove another 5-10 meters, case confirmed! One of the car's tyres has punctured.
Parked illegally in front of the rubbish collection chute, we went out of the car to check further and guess what?? We are SO LUCKY, 2 of the tyres punctured, not one!!! SGFemale quickly rang up her brother who stayed nearby and they took a lift from him who is on the way to work, leaving me with a car with 2 punctured tyres for 'breakfast'..;)
First thing first, called office, applied for urgent leave. Next, called Stamford Tyres, no one answers. Went back home to change into causal attire, called Stamford again, this time I called their main line and was informed that they no longer provide towing service. No choice, I called the workshop of my car and was directed to call their assigned workshop repair folk.
Finally, after providing the car location and cellphone number, the long wait begins...I waited for one full hour before the towing vehicle arrive. The driver charge additional $10 for changing one of the tyres since I have a spare one at the boot. After which, the car was towed to a workshop in Bukit Batok and the driver was kind enough to help negotiate for a good price for the replacement of tyres. I was advised to change all 4 tyres as the technician told me that the other 2 surviving tyres will not last any longer.
All in all, I spent $320 for 4 tyres and of course, a peace of mind. Went for a car wash and petrol top-up and was able to spent the rest of the day with SGFemale to do some windows shopping at Suntec City.
Wanted to post some photo of the punctured tyres and somehow the photo got accidentally deleted by the mobile software!!
What a day!
