Birthday present (Part 2)

While both SGMale and SGFemale were in Paris......

SGMale: Dear, see if you like anything here, I shall get it for you for your birthday gift.

SGFemale: No, no need cos I already have a gift (D&G watch) from you before we came to paris.

SGMale: But you don't have a LV bag!!!

SGFemale: It's ok!!!

SGMale: Come on, it's a good bargain to get it in Paris, moreover I knew you hope to own for one long ago. I insisted we get one here.

SGFemale: Don't waste money lah.... Should save cos I haven't got a job yet.

SGMale: Nvm, just get it, cos we might not be coming back to Paris, it's really a good steal to get it here than in Singapore.

SGFemale: Ok, since you insist. (Hee.....) (SGFemale feeling touched and happy in her heart)

After an hour, and after some hesitation, and after seeing so many designs, SGFemale finally settled with a LV Damier Canvas Tate PM.

Yes, it was a bargain. It costs Euro 615, and after 12% tax refund, it is Euro 541.20.
Euro 541 is SGD $1141.51, and it is sellling at SGD $1440 in Singapore.
A total saving of SGD $300.

SGMale also bought a LV Men's Wallet for himself.

Note for SGMale: Thanks for the 2nd birthday present, dear!

PS: today is the eve of my birthday!!!!
Stay tune for any updates of SGFemale's birthday celebrations!!!!

Info-tech Shows

IT shows. Sitex shows. Comex shows. PC shows.

Quarterly shows that are ever so familiar & popular with people who love playing around with gadgets, especially those working in the Information Technology industry.

Hundreds of exhibitors will feature a dynamic and comprehensive line-up of the latest and hottest consumer technology gadgets from new next-generation digital televisions, wireless HD, coolest new multimedia phone, ultra mobile PCs, Digital Imaging, Wireless Technology, Portable Entertainment, HDTV, Plasmas, Gaming, MP3, Networking, Digital Media, Audio & Home Entertainment/Lifestyle Products, Broadband Technology, Multimedia, Security, Software, Consumer Electronics to a plethora of accessories all on display.

SGMale used to buy things that are on sale and also those that are very very cheap ONLY during the show. Given the current state of the economy, SGMale is no longer so 'generous'. He starts to think about 'Is it a need or a want?', what's the impact if i get it during the next show?

SGMale has becames a more 'mature' consumer. Since SGFemale is still on a 'Tai Tai' status, SGMale has to be more thrifty than ever. For example, instead of spending at least $900 - $1500 on a wall-mountable Blu-ray player, SGMale got a multi-media player ( for $229)that can play off multimedia of any formats ( MP3, Mp4, AVI, DIVX, RSS among all other blu-ray encoders..etc ).

SGMale applied for Amex card so that he can start getting 10 times as many reward points compared to other credit cards which he intend to cancel. To SGMale, he is going to use just one card for all future purchase of big ticket items.

SGMale also got a few watches from one of the showroom that sells branded watches. Latest model of D&G watches that are selling at hundreds of dollars were selling at 60 - 70% discount. SGMale was lucky for being able to 'squeeze' in to the very crowded and packed showroom and grab a few very good buys.

In order to have the best bang for our bucks in times like this, it is better to think thrice before buying anything..haha!

Toilet in Singapore

If only all toilets in Singapore are of this standard.....

These are taken at Paragon Orchard.

Although our new toilet isn't that good as above, but still consider ok, better than those at coffeeshop!

At the arcade again!!!!

Today, I attended a colleague's daughter 1st birthday at Aranda Country Club at Pasir Ris. As SGMale dropped me off at 3.50pm at Downtown East (E-hub), I decide to walk around there and wait for the other colleagues to arrive.

I smsed 2 colleagues, one said that she is on the way but she was at Tiong Bahru MRT station and will only reach here in 45 mins to 1 hour. The other replied that she's still at home at Jurong and will only arrive at the club at about 6.30pm.

Ok, so I took a lift to the highest floor of the building which is the 5th floor at E-hub. This floor consists of K-box and a Japanese restaurant - (Nihon Mura) which is famous for their "worth-the-money" 99 cents sushi especially with the bad economy now. Anyway, since I can't be going to K-box alone and can't be eating sushi at this time. I went down to another floor, this floor really caught my attention, my time and my hard-earned money. I spend the rest of the hours there till 6.45pm.

So what is this floor? Entertainment! Cinama and arcade. Guess where did I go? Cinema? To catch a show till 6.45pm? NO! I went into the arcade and watch people playing with the claw machine and big sweetland machine. I watched and watched for 30 mins and was very tempted to try out myself. I tried to control myself until I saw a potential chance of getting a mini Minnie plush toy.

I searched my coin purse and found 5 pcs of $1 coins, I tried and tried, finally finished up all my $5 coins and the toy was at the edge of the dropping point. I went quickly to change for another $5 coins and continued..... At the 6th coin, I managed to catch 2 plush toys ( Minnie and a white cat) but only Minnie dropped into the winning tunnel.
Hee....;p

With 4 more coins left, i walked around and stand at the big sweetland machine again, watching a couple play. After a while, they decided not to play and walked off. I looked at their score, and thought to myself, isn't it very pity that they stopped at this point. So I went to exchange for some coins and starts to play.

As I play, I felt that quite a numbers of people are standing behind me to watch me play. Why? It's because I am winning a "Jackpot" soon. However, the sweets falling onto the checker were not strong enough, and I ended up exchanging for more coins. One couple beside me were even more excited than me, the guy kept saying, how come it didn't spin even when the sweets hit onto the checker! I turned and looked at him and smiled at him.

Finally, after about 4 - 5 trys, I won the jackpot. Was then given a choice and to choose, a Mickey figuring for display, a Minnie's ribbon cushion or a Yellow Bunny. I choose the Mickey figuring but then regretted it after 2 mins, then asked for an exchange for the yellow bunny.

At this time, my colleague called me, informing me that she arrived with another colleague. They came to meet up with me at the arcade and we played other games together, including claw machine and big sweetland. We had a wonderful time at the arcade.

Although I really enjoyed the fun and the process of winning, but I think I really have to give this "costly hobby" up...
I must really try hard to stop myself from playing the claw machine and the big sweetland machine. We had a lot of candies and plush toys at home now since our 1st try on 24th Dec 2007. Will have to give it away for birthdays and Christmas then....;P

Visiting JB during weekday

Decided to go in with Friend A since he is still 'free' and also because it is my off day today. I picked him up at Lot 1 at 1205pm and guess what, we are inside City Square ordering our lunch at 1240pm. The toilets inside CitySquare is quite clean now though it is still reeks of cigarette smell!

The food court displays some very tempting tepanyaki set meal, will try it out some day!

OMG! It is by far the fastest ever record for me, having to go through 2 customs and busy roads during lunch hours and yet we manage to make it in about 35 minutes! What a feat!

After lunch, we caught a movie 'Babylon A.D' there, it is a science fiction show that does not seem to be very well done!

Afterwhich we drove to check out the current state of Holiday Plaza, the once famous hub for all pirated CDs and looking at it now, it seems so 'clean' now. What a far cry from the past!

Well done, Malaysia Government!

Before coming back to singapre to fetch SGFemale from work, we also visited Skudai Parade. A rural shopping mall that does not seem to be the type of mega mall I had in mind. Nevertheless, it does fulfill the basic amenity for the locals that stay around there.

Looking forward to the road trip to Desaru in 2 days' time. This time Friend A is driving..hehehe!
Time for me to sit back and relax! ;)

Night out with mother-in-law at Chinatown

Went Chinatown with both my wife and my mother-in-law last night.
We strolled through streets selling festive fruits and lanterns etc..
The lightning this year is better and nicer.

We had dessert at the new Chinatown hawker centre after walking for almost an hour.
We will bring our son to see the lighting during weekends if it is not too crowded.

Went over to John Little Sale at Hall 5 after the bloodshed session at Timberland Sale. Blood was still dripping out of SGmale's wallet, haha...;p

2 boxes for $9.90, worth the price.

Good steal at Timberland Expo Sale

After sending our son to the childcare centre, I went with SGMale to the Singapore Expo early in the morning. Why were we there today? The reason is because there's Timberland Expo Sale with up to 70% off for shoes and clothings. At first, I wasn't very keen to go there cos I thought they only have items for mens. Then while checking the expo site, I found out that there's John Little Sale as well.

SGMale was very eager to go in upon reaching there, dashed into the exhibition hall while I was still in the ladies. By the time I met up with him in the hall, he was already with a bagful of shirts and jackets. I asked him, is it really so cheap? He answered, "yes, of cos my dear, go see what you want to buy". After ending the conversation, he disappeared back into the crowd leaving me alone searching around to see if there's anything for ladies.

Then I finally discover the ladies' corner, with about 50 varieties of heels, boots and sandals. I walked along the corner trying on the shoes. Hm... their shoes are really quite nice and comfortable, I took a fancy for about 6 pairs. But can't really buy all the 6 pairs, SGMale might kill me if I did, so I chose 3 pairs out of them.

By the time I went to check with SGMale if he's ready to go, I saw him with two big bags full with 2 pairs of shoes, 2 jackets, 2 sweaters, 4 T-shirts, 4 short-sleeve shirts and 4 long sleeve shirts, I nearly fainted on the spot. I took my cellphone out from my pocket and started to caculate, this time, my jaw dropped!! It's a total of almost $800 excluding the cost of my 3 pairs of shoes. After some discussion & heated arguments, I decided to forgo a set of shoes, and SGMale also forego some of his items.

Usual price: $159
Now: $69

Usual price: $149 Now: $69

In total, I spent $138 for two pairs of shoes.

I may wear them for my China trip in October..hehehe!

Bloodshed shopping at Timberland Sale

70% off for almost everything is really way too much a temptation for anyone to withstand. Needless to say, both of us manage to make it there even right before it's opening hour. After our breakfast, we 'Chyong' inside and started the bloodshed battle along with other like-minded consumers...

Bloodshed shopping result announcement: -> a huge loss of blood for SGMale's poor wallet [$515]..

Loot from the bloodshed as displayed below:

The hole would have been very much bigger [$1889] had there not been a 70% discount for most items including 10% overall discount.
