First day at work!

Didn't sleep well last night cos I was having diarrhea just before I went to bed. Mainly because I am nervous about starting work today. Whenever I am nervous and stressed out, I will have butterflies roam wildly inside the stomach & uncontrollable diarrhea bothering me. But then, It could also be the dinner that I had, cod fish and grilled prawns. Maybe they are not well-cooked, or maybe it's because of food-poisoning, seafood mixing with Choya.

Conclusion: Diarrhea - I have a very weak stomach. hehehe..

However, this kind of weird feeling [a.k.a fear] goes away or "escape" once I am in the office. Haha... Why is it so? I don't know the reason myself. Maybe if I do someday, I can be a doctor, hee...;p

Ok, back to my first day at work. First, I am very impressed by the newly renovated office with its interior design, their cosy and state-of-the Art work-stations, their "hotel-standard" toilets and their well-equiped pantry with Nescafe instant coffee maker etc.

Hm... I was thinking and day-dreaming about my dream desk when the HR executive briefed me on the company policy etc. Afterwhich, he brought me around to the 2nd storey office for orientation and introduction. I was then getting more and more impressed as we past by more office areas. Lastly, he told me we are done and he will bring me to the warehouse area to see my office area. We pass through another bigger pantry before arriving at the warehouse. The warehouse consists of 2 levels, with cartons stacked neatly.

Then he brings me through a side door at the warehouse, he commented 'There's your work-station'. I stepped in, and I had the shock of my life. I was utterly stunt and stood there staring blankly at the 'dream desk' and at the same time feeling very disappointed and sorry for myself. Why? Why? Why??? There isn't any computer on the desk at all and a messy desk greeted me.

OMG! I sms-ed SGMale, he said "hahaha", nevermind lah, so long they can pay you well, so be it. Ok lor, I thought to myself, at least I got an aircon blowing at me, and that I won't be complaining about the hot weather like I did so everyday at home. What's more? It's free aircon and at the same time, hair-dryer cos it's blowing at my hair all the time, scattering my "dandruff" to all others.

Muhahahaha.....;p

Bidding farewell to life of a 'tai-tai'

Got a call this morning from my agency informing that I got the job I applied for and salary confirmation. I was asked to start work tomorrow and I agreed.

Have to bid farewell to my "tai-tai" status again and say "hello" again to working life. Have to pack up my lazy and carefree mood and put up my "concentration" mask to fight the battle from tomorrow onwards. Haha.... Isn't that scary? Just joking lah! I am glad that I have found this job, happy that I am able to learn new things.

Went down to agency to sign off the contractual agreement in the afternoon then went shopping with SGMale. He took some time off to celebrate this "special" occassion with me. As I am in good mood, I decide to cook dinner for SGMale.

Cod fish

Grilled prawns with cheese and scallops

Ending the sumptuous meal with
a bottle of Choya..yummy..;p

No Feeding of Monkeys

Before fetching our son this evening, we decided to drop by Bukit Timah Nature Reserve since we have not been there for ages.

We were greeted by the "No Feeding of Monkeys" sign before we walked into the Visitor Centre. Apparently the monkeys here are becoming a huge nusiance to the residents here.

The authority are taking serious actions to really curb the production of these monkeys. http://www.wildsingapore.com/places/monkey.htm.

Offenders will be fined S$500. Wow...better think twice before we toss any food to the monkeys in future.

A young monkey bidding his chance to enter a residential house.

Midnight Show at Lido

It has been a long while ever since both of us enjoy a show together, especially at Lido watching midnight show. We decided to catch a show since my parents are taking care of our son and Monday is a Public Holiday..hehehe!!

Brought our dinner from the food kiosk outside the cinema.

Lido has not changed a bit for a long time, probably time for a make-over soon?? Nevertheless, the seats inside is still by far the most comfortable in my own opinion.

SuperDog [Hand-Grilled Burgers]

We were at Vivocity last Saturday and since it was near dinner time, we decided to have dinner at Superdog fastfood restaurant.

We had a Bacon Chilli Cheese Dog, Chilli Cheese Burger and a box of Chilli Cheese Fries. The price may not be as pricey as Carl Junior but it is defnitely more costly than MOS Burger.

Enough said, let's see the food we ordered.

The food is nice when eaten once in a while.

Discovering the Southern Ridges

The Southern Ridges comprise a 9-kilometre chain of green, open spaces spanning the rolling hills of Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Kent Ridge Park before ending at West Coast Park. It is an area steeped in history and is home to some of nature’s greatest gifts of flora and fauna. It is also one of the best spots in Singapore to catch panoramic views of the city, harbour and the Southern Islands.

Marang Trail

Faber Walk

Henderson Waves

Hilltop Walk

Forest Walk

Alexandra Arch

Floral Walk

Canopy Walk

We will defnitely attempt to finish the above walks and trails before the year ends...we promise!

Tried out a bit of the Floral Walk the other day when we were at HortPark...surrenderred due to extremely hot afternoon sun..

'Windows' shopping at Vivocity

After leaving the hot and humid Botanic Garden, we decided to seek refuge at Vivo City for some free "aircon". Initially intended just to do some 'windows' shopping but SGFemale ended up buying 2 pair of shoes at Tangs.

SGFemale managed to shop for 2 pairs of shoes within 30 minutes while I was busy chasing and catching with our hyperactive son who created such a noisy din with his running non-stop near the lady shoe department.

A showdown on SGFemale's prized shopping items today

Nice pair of sandal with red flower and stylish pair of shiny black heels.

These 2 pairs of shoes just got enlisted into SGFemale's collection of more than 30 pairs of shoes.

Visit to Botanic Garden & HortPark

Thanks to the hot and humid weather, we were being forced out of the house again today. Brought our son to Botanic Garden for lunch and a short walk around the sheltered facility.

Nicely renovated shelter

Botanic Garden has become more and more attractive after the much-awaited makeover took place.

Nice Pond full of lotus.

Wooden Sculptures of various shapes and sizes

Our son never fails to feel very excited whenever he sees lot of fishes inside the pond.

We tried walking out to the park for a while, we ended up perspiring so much after 10 mins that we decided to leave for a cooler place.

But in actual fact, we 'drove' right into another inferno - HortPark. HortPark is a one-stop gardening hub that brings together gardening-related, recreational, educational, research and retail activities under one big canopy in a park setting. It is a knowledge hub for plants and gardening and provides the platform for the industry to share best practices and showcase garden designs, products and services. This 23-hectare regional park in South-Western Singapore is also a park connector, connecting Telok Blangah Hill Park to Kent Ridge Park. It was officially opened to the public on the 7 December last year.

Main entrance

Good for evening chill out...

Wow..so much enclosed plants...

Hort Mart selling most of the gardening tools and plants..

Nice combination of colors.

So much greeneries inside air-con room, is it really neccessary?

Looks like the enchanted Garden in one of the fairytale I have read during my childhood days.

There is so much to see, will definitely drop by again during cooler part of the day.

Accelerating expenditure

Did some research on recent year expenditures and was amazed to find out that our entire household expenditure has been rising 10-15% year on year. This shows that Singapore is really getting to become a more and more expensive place to live in..

It becomes worse when you own a car, why? When there is a new shopping mall opening, new place for prawn fishing etc...the urge and temptation to get out of the house never fail to pound on us especially when the weather gets hotter these day, staying at home on a saturday afternoon seem like mission impossible for us.

Of course, taxi is always the replacement if one does not own a car but it is never as convenient as owning a car when you can choose to leave the house and hop on the car anytime of the day.

As petrol prices has risen towards the $2.50 per litre mark, SGFemale and myself resolve to stay at home more often now especially during weekends. Difficult as it is, we shall give it a try and find out this weekend..hehehe;)
