Suppose to drive both SGFemale and my son to mother-in-law's place but alas..the moment the car started moving, it became apparent to us that something is wrong with the tyre. Drove another 5-10 meters, case confirmed! One of the car's tyres has punctured.
Parked illegally in front of the rubbish collection chute, we went out of the car to check further and guess what?? We are SO LUCKY, 2 of the tyres punctured, not one!!! SGFemale quickly rang up her brother who stayed nearby and they took a lift from him who is on the way to work, leaving me with a car with 2 punctured tyres for 'breakfast'..;)
First thing first, called office, applied for urgent leave. Next, called Stamford Tyres, no one answers. Went back home to change into causal attire, called Stamford again, this time I called their main line and was informed that they no longer provide towing service. No choice, I called the workshop of my car and was directed to call their assigned workshop repair folk.
Finally, after providing the car location and cellphone number, the long wait begins...I waited for one full hour before the towing vehicle arrive. The driver charge additional $10 for changing one of the tyres since I have a spare one at the boot. After which, the car was towed to a workshop in Bukit Batok and the driver was kind enough to help negotiate for a good price for the replacement of tyres. I was advised to change all 4 tyres as the technician told me that the other 2 surviving tyres will not last any longer.
All in all, I spent $320 for 4 tyres and of course, a peace of mind. Went for a car wash and petrol top-up and was able to spent the rest of the day with SGFemale to do some windows shopping at Suntec City.
Wanted to post some photo of the punctured tyres and somehow the photo got accidentally deleted by the mobile software!!
What a day!

Shopping for new DVD player
After a heavy dinner at Ichiban Japanese restaurant, we went shopping for a DVD player. First, we went to Harvey Norman then to Courts. We compared a few brands & models, checking out the specific functions and of course, not forgetting the price, being the most essential factor of the entire purchase. As SGFemale knows nuts about DVD player, so she leave it to SGMale to make the final decision. After a "long" 45mins of mind-boggling struggle, SGmale finally decided to settle on the Sony DVP-NS608P at Harvey Norman. This DVD player comes with multi disc playback, progressive scan, excellent picture quality of 12bit/108MHZ and easy playback of JPEG/MP3 with contents browser, and it only cost us $99, quite worth it, isn't it?

The full package

Everything out of the box

Now, time to unplug the old Pioneer DVD and replace it with the new Sony DVD player.

Hey SGMale, where are you hiding? Now it's your duty to install it and we shall test it together later. Hehehe!

Dinner at Ichiban Japanese Restaurant
Since both SGMale & SGFemale had the same carving, we decided to settle our dinner over at Ichiban Restaurant, a restaurant that specialises in serving Japanese food including Sushi.
Before the food was attacked

Some common dishes we ordered for tonite
Soft-shell Crab

Gyu-Teridon

Chicken Katsu Tamago Toji

Agedashi Tofu

End state of the food we ordered

Haha..we manage to consume the food in a short span of 15 Minutes..pretty hungry hor..:) and all of these for a bill of $40 bucks..value for money? Guess not..
I am willing to spend this money because I have saved the money I would have 'invested' in 4D last Sunday. Of course! It is better to feed our stomach than to feed the SG Pool's already bloated pockets. ;)

Being a "tai-tai" in Singapore
A typical "tai-tai" should be carefree, going on endless shopping spree everyday. There is no need to worry about household chores, taking care of kids and increasing household expenses. Able to dress up nicely to go shopping, enjoy high tea and buffet dinner with close friends, travelling to every corners of the world etc...
Well, my day-dreaming ailment must be getting worse! As we don't have a maid at home, hence I am the 'maid' and is always the one doing most of the household chores. However I am lucky that my hubby helps me out whenever he has time to spare.
And also, taking care of our 2 years old "super hyper-active monster" son is the toughest challenge and he never fails to drain away every single drop of my energy everyday. But as I see him growing to be more and more cute and adorable every passing day, I felt that all the hardships are all worth the while.
It gets better now ever since we put him at the childcare centre as I only get to see him in the late afternoon. Am enjoying all the free time in the morning and afternoon now and occassionally to recuperate from loss of sleep when he is sick and crying whole night.

Job Interview
One of my guys is leaving and I have asked one of the local job agency to send in some resumes. Saw one resume that looks good and hence the interview today. The interviewee is a Indian national and he turned out to be the candidate that got rejected by us last year. He is currently working for one of the major automobile company and after he described his daily duties and current working experience, my manager and myself decided that we have to reject him once more.
It is realy getting harder and harder to get good people nowadays especially when it is a contract position. All the good folks are probably looking out for good paying permanent positions and will hardly appear for contract job interviews.
So once again, the position remains open and many many more interviews awaits me in the days and weeks to come.

Son is sick again
Our 2 years old son is sick again after spending the weekend over at my parents' place. It was rumoured that my dad fed him with Milo and all sorts of heaty food resulting in him running a high temperature by the time we fetch him back. My poor wife spent the entire night taking care of him while I slept comfortably at the other bedroom as I have got to work the next day. Good thing my wife is currently unemployed and was able to tend to him the entire night.
I sent both of them to my mother-in-law's place in the morning so that both my tired wife and son could be taken care of. I visited them during lunch and was glad that my son's temperature has subsided a bit.
Lesson learnt: Must educate my parent not to let my son indulge himself with heaty food ever again.

Maiden Blog
Probably getting too bored of staying in such a small country like Singapore, my wife and myself decided to register a blog to share most part of our daily happenings and travel experiences with everyone who cares to read this blog. This blog shall also serve as our family diary where we share our ups and downs in life and will be a good place for us to retrospect as we progress through many phases in life...Enjoy! - SGMale
