Visiting JB during weekday

Decided to go in with Friend A since he is still 'free' and also because it is my off day today. I picked him up at Lot 1 at 1205pm and guess what, we are inside City Square ordering our lunch at 1240pm. The toilets inside CitySquare is quite clean now though it is still reeks of cigarette smell!





The food court displays some very tempting tepanyaki set meal, will try it out some day!






OMG! It is by far the fastest ever record for me, having to go through 2 customs and busy roads during lunch hours and yet we manage to make it in about 35 minutes! What a feat!

After lunch, we caught a movie 'Babylon A.D' there, it is a science fiction show that does not seem to be very well done!

Afterwhich we drove to check out the current state of Holiday Plaza, the once famous hub for all pirated CDs and looking at it now, it seems so 'clean' now. What a far cry from the past!

Well done, Malaysia Government!

Before coming back to singapre to fetch SGFemale from work, we also visited Skudai Parade. A rural shopping mall that does not seem to be the type of mega mall I had in mind. Nevertheless, it does fulfill the basic amenity for the locals that stay around there.

Looking forward to the road trip to Desaru in 2 days' time. This time Friend A is driving..hehehe!

Lousy dinner at IMM

We had dinner at one of the eateries at IMM the other nite. We were disappointed with the food as well as the attitude of the cooks and waitress which are all from China.

Drinks came without ice and when I asked for it, no ice was the only reply I got. The fried rice I ordered comes in mini portion fit for a 10 years old and not to mention the watery & tasteless noodle that SGFemale ordered. In order not to waste food, she kind of forced herself to 'drink' down her bowl of tasteless noodle. The rest of the 2 dishes were also below average in terms of look and taste. No wonder there were so little customer while the eatery right beside were crowded and jammed with people. What a far cry!








Definitely the last time we will ever eat here.

Kranji Farm Resort

Farms are re-inventing themselves so that city slickers like us can now go a little bit country if we want to. These farms are where you can buy fresh produce - but think also hotel-style villas with terraces looking out onto fields of bananas. Think spa, seafood restaurant and beer garden with a live band playing by night.







This is what visitors can expect from a stay at the 5ha D'Kranji Farm Resort when it opens in end of the year in north-western Singapore. Run by Indonesia-based HLH Agri-International, this $10-million venture is the latest and most costly instance of how farms here are marketing themselves.

Disgusting scene at Kukup

Just when we got off the car, we were welcomed by some strong disgusting fishy smell. After sitting down at the seafood restaurant then I realised where it came from.

There's a few boat loading bags and bags of fishes and fish heads to the near-by kelongs. These are the feed for the fishes and crabs rear in the kelong I suppose. It was simply an disgusting experience to eat at the opened-air restaurant with plenty of "fishy" air.




I totally agreed with SGMale that we won't be going back there again!!!!

Road Trip to Kukup

Woke up in the morning, notice that the sun was shining brightly. Called Friend A up and asked if he wants to join us for a road trip to Kukup, an immediately 'OK' was the reply.

Ok, why Kukup? Well, after doing some research on the internet for some great seafood in Malaysia, there are some blogs that mention about some good seafood restaurants in Kukup and hence the trip there.

Traffic was moderate as we entered via Tuas Second Link. We stopped by and visited Pontian and it's shopping mall on our way to Kukup.

Pontian is rather a boring and unexcited town and there isn't really anything worth visiting there.

We soon hit the road again after stopping for an hour at Pontian.

After about another hour, we finally reach our destination at 4.30pm. To our dismay, there isn't really a lot of seafood restaurants there. After much discussion, we decided to have early dinner since there isn't much places to shop around over there.

We ordered the below dishes which I personally think are not worth the price (RM$110.00) we got charged for.








Fishy smell filled the air there as we tucked in our food..Yucks! It would probably the first and last time I will ever go there.

Chinese Garden Lantern Festival 2008

Brought SGFemale and son to Chinese Garden on Thursday since the weather was good. Decorated with 21 themes of lanterns, including Hello Kitty and her friends, the Mid-Autumn mood fills the air with laughter and joy. It is the ideal place to be to celebrate all that the Mid-Autumn festival means: The spirit of togetherness and reunion amongst family and friends.

Our son was very excited and happy the entire evening. We bought him a ballon dog that floats on 4 legs and our son was very much attached to his 'dog' the whole nite.

Lantern Fantasy 2008 is the BIGGEST CHARACTER LANTERN SHOW EVER IN THE WORLD, with close to 300 character lanterns handcrafted by 106 lantern craftsmen, over a 3-months period with an average of 16 working hours daily. To create this festival, the organisers have also used 30000m of wires, 18000 pieces of bulbs, 16500m of fabric, 26 tonnes of steel and 750 tubes of fluorescents!

Lantern Fantasy 2008 at the Chinese Garden is easily accessed by car with ample parking available, or a 3-minute walk by MRT to Chinese Garden Station (EW25).
